The Rivers of Reading
To quote Dr. Upmanu Lall (Director of the Columbia Water Center) “most of the climate change impacts come down to water”. In this event we will be talking about The Rivers of Reading…and what climate change means for the future of flooding and our water supplies in our town. As members of the ReadingCAN Water Theme, we will be talking about some of the big plans we have in our new Reading Climate Emergency Strategy. We will introduce the two main rivers of Reading, to explain where our water comes from, and why we need to be concerned about flooding. We will talk about the impacts we expect from the changing climate, and how these changes will affect us all (individuals, schools and businesses). And we will talk about what we can all do, as we aim to become ‘the most water aware’ town in the UK.
Reading Climate Festival is a week-long programme of free events to inspire action on climate change, curated by Reading Climate Action Network.
