How many trees offset a car commute

This short talk will review the relative importance of sources of CO2 emissions, before exploring methods of mitigation. It will then focus in on the role of trees and their impact in absorbing the CO2 emissions related to car commuting.

It will conclude by explaining the specific benefits of urban trees and how Ethical Reading aims to help with its Trees for Reading initiative.

About the speaker

Gill Ringland

Gill is a founder director of Ethical Reading. She facilitates the volunteers who drive the Sustainability, Ethics in Schools and Ethical Property programmes, and builds external collaborations to run initiatives such as Revive Reading.

Until 2017 she was CEO and Fellow of SAMI Consulting, a global strategy consultancy, where she is now an Emeritus. She is also an ICL Emeritus Fellow and a Fellow of the British Computer Society and the World Academy of Art & Sciences.

Gill has advised the EC, UK and other governments. She continues to write books and blogs on foresight.
